Operationalizing
Canada's Naval Strategy

The Halifax Maritime Security Symposium 2027

Host: The Naval Association of Canada

Location: Hotel Halifax, Halifax

Date: April 29, 2027

A reception will also be held on April 28. 2027

Canada’s maritime security environment is changing and to meet these evolving threats, the Royal Canadian Navy is releasing a new strategy: Clear for Action. This strategy points the RCN in new directions, reconceptualizing how the Navy generates effects and measures success. In support of this effort, the Naval Association of Canada’s annual Halifax Symposium will bring RCN and Coast Guard leaders together with academics, industry representatives, and subject-matter experts to support the RCN as it translates Clear for Action into concrete practice.

At the centre of the symposium is a shared question: how can Canada turn strategic ambition into operational effect? Through presentations and discussion, participants will connect research with naval experience, test new approaches, and identify real opportunities to meet the rapidly changing security threats facing Canada today.
